To me, this photo represents a new beginning, as it's a magnolia tree bud shedding its warm shell in anticipation of spring. It was a chilly late afternoon in April when I took this photo. The light was fading and my hands were freezing. But, this was my first photo shoot after a long hiatus as I had been pursuing another dream that ultimately failed. I wasn't going home until my teeth were chattering and the sun was beyond sight. While taking dozens of photos of the buds on the tree, I wasn't hopeful that any would turn out. Rather, I was just happy to be outside with my camera. When I got home and saw this shot, though, I was filled with the hope and happiness that I had thought was beyond reach. This photo reminds me to always look for new beginnings.
